Lab Personnel

Thomas Eldho
Undergraduate Student

I'm a third-year Pre-Medical Studies major and BS/MD candidate with an interest in how the tumor microenvironment influences cancer progression and metastasis. I'm grateful for the opportunity to explore this field further through my research. Outside the lab, you can find me at the Hofstra Fitness Center, beating Joel Thomson in basketball. I also serve as the Senior Resident Assistant (SRA) for Honors College Housing and have been part of Residence Life since Fall 2023.

I am a third-year Pre-Medical studies major with an interest in epigenetic mechanisms involved in oncogenesis and the development of stem-cell like properties in cancer cells. I am thankful to pursue this research within the lab, and I am looking forward to working over the summer as a part of the RHC Research Assistant program. Outside of the lab, some of my hobbies include playing the drums and watching sports. I also enjoy playing basketball against Thomas Eldho, who I own a 65-3 lifetime 1v1 record against, and can probably beat with my right hand tied behind my back. I hope to attend medical school to become a physician in the future and I believe that I will continue to apply the skills I have learned in this lab throughout my career.

Undergraduate Student

I’m a 4th year Biology major and chemistry minor, with a Pre-Medical concentration. My interests center around tumor progression and genes that  regulate their resistance to drugs. This lab has given me great hand on experience while also answering valuable questions tied to HNSCC. Fun fact: I’m the best basketball player in the lab, and I can bench press more than Dr. Fisher himself!

Amber Sun
Undergraduate Student

I am a third-year Pre-Medical Studies major and BS/MD candidate with a passion for exploring the molecular mechanisms that drive cancer development and therapeutic resistance. My project focuses on how tumor–microenvironment interactions influence cancer behavior and treatment response. Through this work, I hope to contribute to translational approaches that improve patient outcomes. Outside the lab, I am a competitive ballroom dancer and enjoy reading and exploring new cuisines with friends.

Undergraduate Student

I’m a third year Pre-Physician Assistant Studies major and part of the dual degree PA program here at Hofstra. I particularly have an interest in the epigenetic modifiers involved in oncogenesis of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. I am grateful for this opportunity to be able to dive deeper in this field of research, tying together the knowledge of both genetics and biochemistry. Outside of the lab, I like to play volleyball, go swimming, workout, and spend time with friends. In the future, I hope to become a cardiothoracic surgery PA and use the skills I learn from this lab in research later down the line.
